The OCA Library is more than a collection of books; it is a place for reading, discovery, research, learning, and community.

Our goal is to encourage students of all ages to develop a lifelong love of reading while building the skills necessary to find, understand, evaluate, and use information responsibly. Through print and digital resources, students are encouraged to explore new ideas, strengthen literacy skills, conduct research, and become thoughtful and discerning learners.

Developing Lifelong Readers

Reading plays an important role in a student's academic and personal development. The OCA Library provides students with access to age-appropriate literature and resources designed to encourage curiosity, strengthen comprehension, expand vocabulary, and foster an enjoyment of reading.

Students are encouraged to explore different authors, genres, subjects, and perspectives as they grow as confident and independent readers.

Research & Information Literacy

Today's students have access to more information than ever before. Learning how to evaluate that information is an essential part of their education.

Through research and classroom learning, students are encouraged to develop skills that help them:

• Locate appropriate and reliable information
• Evaluate the credibility of sources
• Distinguish fact, opinion, and interpretation
• Compare information from multiple sources
• Recognize bias and unsupported claims
• Use information ethically and responsibly
• Practice appropriate research and citation skills
• Think critically about digital and AI-generated content

At OCA, these skills are developed within a Biblical worldview. We want students to become thoughtful learners who seek truth, exercise wisdom and discernment, ask meaningful questions, and use knowledge responsibly.

Ultimately, our desire is for the OCA Library to help cultivate curious minds, capable readers, thoughtful researchers, and lifelong learners.
