October: Character Matters

"Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out." Proverbs 10:9

One of the things we talk about often at Oasis is character. Grades matter, athletics matter, and achievements matter, but character matters more.

I coached long enough and worked with students long enough to know that talent can open doors, but character determines what happens when those doors open.
Integrity isn't complicated. It's doing the right thing when nobody is watching. It's being honest when it would be easier not to be. It's following through on what you say you're going to do.

As adults, we teach those lessons every day, whether we realize it or not. Students are always watching. They see how we respond when things don't go our way. They see how we treat people. They see whether our actions match our words.

This month, let's be intentional about living lives that reflect Christ both in public and in private.
