11th Grade
Overview
In their Junior year of high school, our students expand their knowledge as they are taught advanced concepts across all core classes by refining and building on previously studied skills as they plan for what comes after high school.  Besides the required core subjects, our Juniors focus on refining time management, prioritization, and independent study skills to help prepare them for life beyond high school- whether that means college, military, vocational school, or employment.

Bible
Juniors utilize the Inner Man curriculum provided by Positive Action to focus on key passages of Scripture and biblical case studies to develop spiritual and leadership acumen. Students are encouraged to review, think about, and apply the truths learned throughout the year.

English
In eleventh grade, student focus heavily on successfully completing multiple academic papers, as well as focusing on test preparation and test-taking strategies for the SAT and ACT tests.  They also utilize our OCA database to sharpen research and library skills.

Math
Juniors in Algebra II further develop reasoning skills through advanced algebra concepts such as quadratic equations, polynomials, complex numbers, logarithms, and trigonometry; they also will solve and graph algebraic functions.  Our eleventh graders that take Intermediate algebra concentrate on operations with real numbers, graphs of functions, domain and range of functions, linear equations and inequalities, quadratic equations with an  emphasis on problem-solving.

Chemistry
Through the study of chemistry, juniors will learn through matter and energy how many everyday events relate to chemistry. They will study the impact of chemistry on the world around us through hands-on experiments.

United States History
Our eleventh graders learn about the development of the United States through the Bob Jones curriculum beginning with the formation of the nation through present day events.  Students will develop critical thinking skills as they use the knowledge gained to make informed decisions about issues faced by local, state, and federal governments.

By the end of 11th grade, students will:

Bible
  • Be able to identify God’s plan for His creation
  • Be able to identify God’s plan for their life
  • Be able to state the B-Attitudes
  • Have a basic understanding of Jesus’ sermon on the mount and how it can be applied to every day life

  • Have a basic knowledge of reading comprehension through literature and short stories
  • Understand the main idea of a variety of texts and analyze how they are developed and supported
  • Understand how an author's choices in wording and structure impact the meaning, tone, and style of the text
  • Successfully write two academic essays in which they demonstrate their understanding of writing as a series of tasks, including finding, evaluating, analyzing sources, and as a process that involves planning, drafting, revising, and editing
Algebra II
  • Understand the guiding concepts of Algebra II
  • Demonstrate proficiency in algebraic knowledge and skills
  • Analyze families of functions using various representations
  • Analyze mathematical data to solve real-life applications
  • Prepare for future academic, career, and service opportunities
